As we reached the one year mark of delivering care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we asked our team members to take a moment to reflect on their thoughts and feelings on what the past year has meant for them and how they’ve grown. For Jared Singer, Cardiothoracic ICU registered nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital, a career in military fueled a passion to help people in critical situations. Sharon is a nurse practitioner in the medicine service line, where she plans and participates in many of the team building/engagement activities that help keep our team working well, together. But Sharon’s compassion goes way beyond the call of duty, and she does so with a humbling grace that shows, no matter the challenge, she’s Made for this. It’s no surprise that many who leave the service go on to equally as inspiring careers — including many who work in healthcare. This is certainly true of Leslie Rudin, a physical therapist at LIJ Valley Stream Hospital and proud US Navy veteran.
