Our respiratory care teams have always been critical in patient care, but their role throughout the COVID-19 pandemic was crucial as we battled this respiratory virus. As COVID-19 peaked throughout New York, Rebecca Reinold was redeployed as a functional nurse practicing bedside patient care as part of our Reassignment Reserve team.

Our well-being programs aren't meant to be checked at the door when employees finish their shifts; many of the resources and activities are devised with employees and their families in mind. Duties include, but are not limited to; preparing patient for physician, administering, obtaining and recording diagnostic laboratory test results. Assists in coordinating organization of care to meet patient needs including, preparing, organizing and filing reports into the medical record. Maintains visible clinical presence; adheres to regulatory body/agency standards; advocates for the nursing professional development programs that support the needs of the learner and the organization; anticipates and forecasts trends. Meet Samara Robb, a senior medical assistant at Northwell Health Physician Partners, who found the motivation to grow in her career through the positive culture at Northwell.

Meet Elyse Isopo, a nurse practitioner at North Shore University Hospital who found a passion for nursing that led to a Northwell career spanning more than two decades—and counting. These are all traits that Michael Ellis, MBA, SPHR, learned in the military that he uses today as a manager in Talent Acquisition at Northwell Health. With the pandemic and temporary suspension of many surgeries, the PACU floor was transformed into a COVID critical care unit and Vicki and her team members were there to help in new ways. Meet Johanna, a wellness champion and liaison at Northwell and also at home, and a triathlete who is always striving to reach her professional and personal goals. The Northwell Heroes Challenge was created as a way to encourage team members to focus on their well-being while raising funds in support of their colleagues.

This is certainly true of Leslie Rudin, a physical therapist at LIJ Valley Stream Hospital and proud US Navy veteran.
